Slim Chickens has launched a new location close to Ann Arbor.

WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI -- If you're in the mood for a chicken sandwich around Ann Arbor, a new fast-casual eatery has just opened its doors to satisfy your cravings.

The eagerly awaited Slim Chickens opened its doors on Monday, January 6, at 5505 Arbor Chase Drive in Scio Township, located to the west of Ann Arbor. This establishment represents the brand's inaugural free-standing, full-service restaurant in Michigan.

Slim Chickens has a few smaller outlets located on the campuses of Central Michigan University and Oakland University, but these locations do not offer the complete menu.

Siblings Brad and Todd DeLange, along with their business partner Doug Broadright, are the franchisees managing the newly opened location.

“We’re thrilled, just like everyone else, to have the opportunity to invite guests in for a taste of our transformative chicken,” Brad DeLange stated.

As customers walk through the doors they are greeted by the smell of fresh chicken and hellos from the staff. The restaurant is known for offering a made-to-order menu complete with chicken sandwiches, tenders, wings, salads, mac and cheese, chicken and waffles and sides like fries, potato salad and fried pickles.

The eatery provides patrons with the option to dine indoors or utilize the establishment's double drive-thru. Additionally, customers have the convenience of placing orders via a mobile application.

Brad DeLange noted that it didn’t take much time to get a strong reaction from patrons regarding the restaurant's cuisine and service. He mentioned that feedback has been "extremely positive," particularly highlighting the popularity of bone-in wings, chicken tenders, and milkshakes among customers.

Drew Brzys and Grant Goodrich, both seniors at Dexter High School, recently visited the new restaurant to check it out. Brzys opted for the spicy cayenne ranch chicken sandwich, while Goodrich savored a plate of chicken and waffles.

Brzys expressed that he truly enjoyed the flavor of the chicken at the restaurant, along with its sauces and the Oreo milkshake.

Brad DeLange mentioned that the franchisee team responsible for the new Slim Chickens in Michigan is continuously evolving and adapting, and he feels a sense of pride in their progress thus far. He noted that the pace of business has been "comfortable," with employees efficiently managing both in-store and drive-thru orders.

Slim Chickens was established in 2003 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and has since expanded to over 250 locations across 34 states, including several international sites. Brad DeLange mentioned that the corporate team has been instrumental in assisting with the launch of the new location in Michigan.

The franchisee team responsible for the new site is dedicated to establishing several outlets in the metro Detroit area within the next decade to 15 years. Brad DeLange mentioned that he is unable to disclose specific locations at this moment, but he is confident that Slim Chickens will thrive in the state.

Slim Chickens is open for dine-in from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, while its drive-thru stays open until 11 p.m. Learn more online or on social media.
