KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI — Following several months of excitement, Berries Famous Pancake House officially launched its new location on Gull Road on Thursday, January 2.
The breakfast and lunch eatery, owned by Chris Mavrakis, is in the freshly renovated, longtime former home of North Eleven, at 5585 Gull Road in Comstock Township.
Mavrakis, who opened his first Berries in June 2022 at 4311 S. Westnedge Ave. in Kalamazoo, has been busy transforming the former North Eleven space since mid-summer.
Mavrakis started developing the Gull Road site shortly after North Eleven relocated to 8896 N. 32nd St. in Richland, where it was rebranded as Tavern 32.
Since the opening of Berries' inaugural location in 2022, the restaurant has gained a reputation for its budget-friendly prices and generous servings. Among the favorite breakfast items are crepes, pancakes, stuffed French toast, customizable skillets, and a variety of benedict options.
The eatery offers nearly twenty varieties of sandwiches, paninis, wraps, melts, clubs, and Angus burgers. In addition, Berries features a selection of fresh salads, pastas, steaks, ribs, and seafood, complemented by a daily soup special.

The Gull Road location is now one of two Berries in the county, both owned and operated by Mavrakis. A separate location, at 234 W. Michigan Ave. in downtown Kalamazoo, closed in July 2024 after 13 months of business. Now home to the family-owned Legacy Table, that building was home to Theo & Stacy’s for five decades.
