Internet cookie sales
Steps to Make a Purchase:
The official start of Girl Scout cookie season began on Monday, and here are some key details you should be aware of:
For now, cookies are only being sold online at ilovecookies.org, but not all troops in Northern California from Gilroy to Oregon border are set up to sell the cookies this way. Cookies will be delivered on Jan. 29.
Face-to-face cookie sales
The cookies will be available for in-person sales from February 6 until March 16.
The price of cookies is set to rise.
This year, cookie prices have increased. Each flavor now costs an additional $1, bringing the total to $7 per box. Please note that shipping fees are not included.
Mary-Jane Strom, the Interim CEO of Girl Scouts of Northern California, stated that the increase in cookie prices is a "necessary adjustment" to cope with escalating costs.
What is the income for each type of troop?
Explore further:
A troop leader from the East Bay informed KTVU that in the previous year, local troops received just 80 cents for every box of cookies they sold. However, this year, each troop is earning between $1 and $1.25 for each $7 box sold, as stated in Girl Scout records.
As reported by the Girl Scouts, the cookie initiative generates over 60% of the council's operating income, with the net profits distributed to troops as proceeds and additional bonuses.
According to the Girl Scouts, the council allocates funds to provide financial aid, train volunteers, support memberships, organize camps, maintain office and program facilities, and facilitate outdoor activities.

A single cookie is being phased out.
And finally, this is the end of the run for Toast-yay. The Girl Scouts of Northern California said in a news release that the flavor "will be retired to make way for future innovations."
This season's cookie offerings feature the beloved Thin Mints and Peanut Butter Patties, along with Adventurefuls, Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Sandwiches, Lemonades, and Trefoils.
Option without gluten
This year, there's a new addition to the cookie lineup: the caramel chocolate chip cookie, which is also gluten-free.
According to the organization, more than 16,000 Girl Scouts in Northern California are set to take part in the cookie entrepreneurship initiative this year, aiming to sell a total of 4.3 million cookie packages.
