For a lot of people, January represents a fresh start, a time to improve themselves, achieve more than the previous year, and adopt healthier habits, such as replacing alcoholic beverages with refreshing water.

If you’re currently on a journey to better health and wondering where to start, maybe taking a leaf out of YouTuber Scott Luu’s book will help.

In 2020, the creator wanted to discover whether drinking more water over a prolonged period of time could change his productivity and performance levels.

His idea was to triple his regular water intake for 30 days and document how he found the process in a YouTube video.

Since Luu hadn't consumed much liquid prior, it was only natural that the most noticeable impact of suddenly drinking three liters a day was the increased urgency to use the restroom.

The creator reported experiencing a significant surge in urination during the experiment, stating that instead of his typical six bathroom visits, he found himself going 12 to 13 times a day.

The YouTuber chose to undertake an experiment by drinking three liters of water daily (YouTube/Dreamlet).

He mentioned that one of the 'more beneficial' outcomes of consuming large amounts of water during the initial days of the challenge was that he no longer experienced a 'foggy' feeling the morning after finishing a late-night editing session.

"Since I began this water challenge, I down half a liter of water each morning, and it feels like I'm drinking pure clarity," he shared.

"I can sense a sudden shift in energy, and it's kind of unsettling."

Nevertheless, Luu asserted that he was: “99 percent convinced that this is merely my mind responding to the sensation of consuming a significant amount of water, as my body is unable to effectively utilize that energy.”

Additionally, Luu asserted that he had eliminated the need for naps in his everyday schedule.

“Prior to the experiment, I would usually take a 20-minute nap each afternoon. However, during the experiment, I found myself napping six times over the course of 30 days. The result? A noticeable boost in my energy levels.”

Intriguingly, the social media star noticed that as the challenge progressed, he stopped feeling an ‘immediate’ power surge when chugging H20.

This is likely due to his body acclimating to the large volume of liquid being consumed.

Numerous individuals have praised the creator for capturing the essence of the challenge (YouTube/Dreamlet).

Concluding his successful experiment, Luu remarked that drinking water isn't a 'miracle cure' capable of resolving all your issues.

He remarked, "If you aren't organized, the water will only provide you with extra energy to continue engaging in unproductive activities."

"Nonetheless, with a clear intention and focus, increasing your water intake can enhance mental clarity and energy levels, improve your concentration and endurance, reduce the need for naps, and lead to more frequent bathroom trips."

Since its upload to YouTube in April 2020, Luu's video has garnered 201,000 views and received numerous comments from appreciative users on the platform.

A viewer commented: “This is incredibly motivating and inspiring. I really appreciate it! Thank you!”

"I recall a time when I spent an entire year swapping out all my beverages for water, even during family events. Looking back, that was one of my best years. My bloating decreased slightly, and I no longer felt sluggish after meals like I did when I used to constantly drink soda," shared another person.

One individual commented, “Since I've been drinking over 3 litres of water daily for the past two weeks, my blood sugar levels have stabilized. It leads me to question if diabetes could be linked to insufficient water intake.”
