Volusia County Coroner's Office

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — This funding will enable the Volusia County Medical Examiner to utilize advanced technology in genetic research, aiding in the identification and resolution of these longstanding cold cases.

The identities of victims in unresolved criminal cases frequently remain undiscovered.

The grant funds will be allocated for four particular instances of DNA analysis, as these are the sole cases in the Medical Examiner's custody that fulfill the requirements set by the grant.

"Every unidentified victim has loved ones who are seeking answers," stated Dr. James Fulcher, the Medical Examiner for Volusia County.

Fulcher adds, “This funding allows us to utilize the latest forensic methods at our disposal to provide solace to the families and ensure justice for the community.”

The FDLE grant initiative is designed to improve the capacity for resolving intricate cases.
